The Titanic

Do you know about the Titanic? The Titanic was thought it was an unsinkable ship. This is the Titanic’s first cruise. The second day they were on their way to Manhattan, New York from Queenstown, Ireland. There were 2,224 people on the titanic. The Titanic hit an iceberg and sunk 3 hours later. There were 710 people saved, 1,514 people were lost. The percentage saved is 32%. The percentage lost is 68%.  The titanic thought it could take the iceberg but the Titanic realized at the last moment they should turn around but it was too late! The Titanic was really interesting.

Christmas trees

The Christmas tree has been a tradition for many, many years. It all started in a small town in Germany, when a man was walking home from work. He saw an evergreen tree. He saw the snow glisten on the tree. He thought it looked pretty so he chopped it down and took it home. But when he stepped into the house the snow had melted. So he had an idea…. His idea was to put candles on the tree to represent the snow on the tree. That is how the tradition of the lights on the tree originated and the tradition of the Christmas started.

Today people put Christmas trees up in their houses. Christmas trees can be found in cities, towns, and plazas. Many towns at Christmas time have tree lighting ceremonies or parties. Christmas trees are decorated with tinsel, ornaments, beads, and lights. Christmas trees are a tree sigh of Christmas.

There they got picked on by giant monsters. The monsters challenged Michael and his team to a game of basketball so they could show off their basketball powers. Watch the movie and see what happens.

Christmas

By Sammy

In one week Christmas will soon be here.

Christmas is about the season of giving not getting.

On Christmas Eve kids put up stockings and set out

cookies and milk. The reason kids do this is because it’s

for the arrival of Santa Claus. In the morning kids wake

up and go right to their Christmas tree and open their

presents. People have big dinners with thier family.  This

how some people celebrate Christmas.HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Thank you for reading and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The Game

What charades was called a long time ago                                  By Jacob

A long time ago “the game” was created on earth. Charades, otherwise known as “the game”, was being played everywhere.  Charades was called “the game” because it was super popular a long time ago.  Charades is a game where you act out doing something silently.  After you are done doing the thing the audience has to figure out what you did.  If you love the game charades say thank you to your hero, Evan Metayer. He invented the game to let the mute kids express themselves freely.  Mute kids are kids that cannot talk.  Evan Metayer made one of my favorite games.

Missing cat found!

If you live in Spencerport you might have heard about Dexter, the missing cat. Dexter’s owners, Carrie Lefler and Tracie Swabach, discovered him missing on October 27. Dexter is an indoor cat and they’re not sure how he got out! He was missing for a total of nineteen days.

Carrie and Tracie received many tips of how to find Dexter. Finally they used an cat trap. Carrie put socks and food in the cat trap. When they found Dexter he was skinnier and had blood on his claws. He was also very scared. When he got out of the trap he put his paws around Carrie like a hug! The vet thought Dexter was trapped because he had bloody claws and was digging to get out because his claws were dirty.

This is not Dexter’s first time as a stray. Carrie found him in a parking lot 5 years ago and he jumped in her car! They have been together ever since. They hope he never gets loose again!

The 4th graders took a field trip to Ganondagan.  Ganondagan is a historic Native American site.  We learned this historic site is on Seneca land.  The Seneca people are a tribe that is part of the five Iroquois Nations.  The site has a longhouse, sights to see and plaques to read.  Our field trip to Ganondagan was both fun and educational.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day
By Sarah

Veterans Day is a day to honor people who fought for our freedom.  On this day we celebrate what Veterans did for our country.  We also wear red, white and blue.  We also wear poppies.  There are parades.   There is no school.  It is a great day to honor Veterans.

Gravity

By: Dylan H

Did you ever wonder what life is like in space?  Before I go on about gravity my recommendation is you watch this movie in 3D it is a lot better than 2D.  Ryan Stone, a mission specialist, is on her first mission going into outer space on the shuttle Explorer.  Another person going with her is named Matt Kowalski.  While she is up there she goes through many life threatening moments.  It was an exiting and action packed movie but the ending came suddenly and left me with a lot of questions.  I recommend this movie because it makes you feel all these different emotions: scared, nervous, exited, and a lot more!

TASMANION
DEVIL

By: Carter C

The Tasmanian Devil is not a monster, it is an endangered rodent that lives on the island of Tasmania.  Its diet is small birds, fish and other small rodents.  There are only 574 Tasmanian Devils left in the world. These awesome animals are magnificent!

Obama Care

This past week the Obama Care Web Site stopped working, due to the Government shut down.  The reason this happened was because the Republicans told the President he had to change Obama Care or they would shut down the Government.  But only small parts of the Government got shut down.  People say that it will happen all over again in February.  The Government is now back open again.

Government Shutdown

A few days ago the government shutdown ended.  A government shutdown happens when the government can’t agree on budget money.  Another shutdown is predicted to happen this February.  We don’t know when it is going to happen again.  So when you see a national park closed, like Yellow stone National Park, there is probably a government shutdown.  It happened because are leaders didn’t agree on some issues.  All the websites that ends with .org were shutdown too.

Save the Wolves

People should stop shooting wolves.  Wolves don’t mean harm they are just scared.  They don’t understand people, they think we are scary.  Some are endangered.   They are almost extinct.  Wolves eat bad creatures like bulls and skunks.  Wolves protect their families like we do.  They have their land they should have all the rights we do.

The Lab of the Stars

I went to the star lab on Tuesday the 20th of March the star lab is an inflatable planetarium and is inflated using air.  Inside the lab looks like.  When the light inside the big gray hollow lump goes off stars and some constellations appear.  We learn about some special stars like Serious and Polaris.  We also learned the phases of the moon using moons on a stick a light bulb was the sun and we looked at shadows to be the part that cannot be seen.  That is awesome and the reason I wrote about this great scene.

Rachel’s Rally

By Amanda

We had an assembly called Rachel’s Rally. It was an assembly that was about showing kindness. We brought out all of the kindness links and there were 2,000 kindness links. The chorus sang Power of One at the assembly and the vocal jazz chorus sang the National Anthem. They also sang True Colors. We released balloons in the air for reaching our goal of spreading kindness.
