The Lab of the Stars

 

I went to the star lab on Tuesday the 20^th of March the star lab is an inflatable planetarium and is inflated using air.  Inside the lab looks like.  When the light inside the big gray hollow lump goes off stars and some constellations appear.  We learn about some special stars like Serious and Polaris.  We also learned the phases of the moon using moons on a stick a light bulb was the sun and we looked at shadows to be the part that cannot be seen.  That is awesome and the reason I wrote about this great scene.

Rachel’s Rally

                We had an assembly called Rachel’s Rally. It was an assembly that was about showing kindness. We brought out all of the kindness links and there were 2,000 kindness links. The chorus sang Power of One at the assembly and the vocal jazz chorus sang the National Anthem. They also sang True Colors. We released balloons in the air for reaching our goal of spreading kindness.

Kindness Pouches

The kindness pouches are used by kindergarten through fifth grade.  Teachers pick some of their student’s acts of kindness and write them on links.   The student council representative brings it down to the main office and it is read on the morning announcements.  You can get your random act of kindness on the morning announcements more than once.  Teachers can send three or four links from their pouches.  Any teacher can give a student a link. If you show a lot of kindness or even just once you could get your name and act of kindness read on the morning announcements. Try to get your name on the morning announcements. J

 

Tiger Sharks

Tiger Sharks are known as sea sharks. Tiger sharks grow slowly. It takes several years for them to mature. These sharks live around the Pacific Ocean. Their weight is 850 pounds to 1,400 pounds. The teeth that they have are replaced throughout their life. They also live in tropical and sub-tropical waters. They have sensitive smell recepters. Their eyes adapt quickly to low light levels. They live to be 12 years old. They eat squid, fish, seals, sea turtles, sea snakes and sea birds. They are 10 feet long.

 

Jump Rope for Heart

           This year we did Jump Rope for Heart.  Our goal was to raise $5,000. We beat our goal and we raised $6,126.50.  The class that raises the most money gets a pizza party.  Ms. Rydzewski’ s class raised $823.  The top fundraisers raised $420 and $255.

          When we jumped rope we had a contest to see which group had the most jumps. The group that got the most jumps would get a prize.  The students in the class that raised the most money would get a prize.  Jump Rope for Heart was fun because we listened to music and did a lot of jumping rope. It is a very good cause because we are raising money to help people.

Third Grade Granny Bubble Gum

Granny bubblegum is a game where you kick a ball and people try to get it and it keeps on going.   Granny bubble gum has been played for three years in school at recess. It is a very dangerous game because kids get hurt when a lot of people try and get the ball.  It is only played in spring and fall because in the winter we can not kick the ball. That is the game of granny bubblegum.
